BC Portion of the Trip

This map is our route through British Columbia from Mission to Jasper. We started at Mission to avoid the Vancouver traffic and, in deference to the previous New Zealand cyclists, the trip had to start from a MacDonald's!

As we get further along I'll add maps showing our next sections.

Mt. Washington Hill Climb - May 15

We decided we needed to practice some uphill in preparation for Alison Pass. So, Laura and I rode up Mt. Washington from the base parking lot. The distance up is 17 Km and 1030 vertical meters.

The picture is a Altitude-Time plot. Two and a quarter hours up and just over a half hour down - a long way to go for a chocolate bar!

May 8 - Practice Ride Blaine to Bellingham

Yesterday (Thursday) we rode from the border to Blaine to Bellingham and back, a total of 94 km. The morning was drizzling and raining, but the sun came out after noon.

This photo shows what we thought about the morning's weather.
We had a good lunch at the Old Town Cafe in Bellingham.

The riders were Gerry, Leddy, Ashley, Laura, Greg & Daphne.
Thanks to Daphne for feeding us Wednesday night.
