June 1 - We're Off!

It's finally happening. We left today from Mission on the start of our Canada cycle trip.

The seven cyclists and Gord in his truck left the Mission McDonald's and have travelled 85 km to Hope. It was a good day - cloudy, a bit of drizzle after noon, but no wind and easy cycling.

Terri and Dan are in their campsite and the rest of us are in our motel.

Tomorrow, the real work begins. We ride 60 km to Manning Park through Alison Pass, with a vertical climb of 1300 meters.

Tomorrow, we will be beyond Hope......

We just came back from dinner. Sitting beside us were another group of bike riders heading across Canada! They are going up the Coquihalla tomorrow - good luck to them.

Hi Greg and Laura,

We toasted your good health and safe cycling over family dinner last night; Ian barbequed spare ribs and beef bones and we had one for you two!!
Mum says hello!

Take care,

Julie and Ian
