June 28 - Viking to Wainwright - 77 km

Another 'shortish' day with continuing great weather (who thought we would call 77 km 'shortish'?)

We had our morning break and snack at Irma. We met a teacher who came from BC 30+ years ago and taught here until he retired. He told us tha the scenery 'grows' on you. We agree. I personally am enjoying the 'flat' prairie scenery. It is very different from what we are used to and is facinating. We stopped for a break at Fabyan and met two gentlemen who gave us the local history.

I took a side trip up to the Battle River Trestle. Quite a structure. The other picture is the Fabyan Trading Post, visited Leddy and Laura.

Wainwright is a bigger town with a large army base nearby. Ledy and I had a look at the museum, situated in the old train station. Interesting place, with a lot of history of the buffalo in the area.
