August 12 - Mirimachi to Bouctouche - 103 km

Sort of a ho-hum day. It rained in the morning - the photo is of us in full raingear getting ready to go (praying for some relief??)

We went down highway 11, which is inland, so it was pretty much only scrubby NB forest land. not a bad road.

We truned onto the coast road (hwy 134) and saw some better scenery. Lunch in Kouchibouguac (pronunciation lessons for a fee later).

We got hit by another sprinkle in the pm.

Laura got her second flat in 2 days. She and Terri are the flat queens and are tied with Dan. I'm getting good at fixing them, but I need more patches.

We finished the day in Bouctouche, which seems to be predominately French speaking. It is interesting that the communities seem to alternate - French, then English, then French again. Apparently, English finally predominates as you go south. I included a picture of the Bouctouche church, which apparently is significant for some reason, but I couldn't understand the article. It is a beautiful structure. The large NB churches seemed to be made primarily of a type of sandstone, instead of a granitic-looking rock that the Quebec churches were constructed of.
