Back onto highway 158 today, heading east. It was a nice, easy ride in good weather.
The morning was spoiled when I got my first case of road rash. We were on a detour off the highway in a town called Crabtree when I hit a rut and took a header. I managed to bruise my chin, elbow, knee and ego. No damage to the bike, though. Nurse Laura helped me clean up and we got back on the road in a few minutes.
We got back onto the Route Verte at Berthierville. This section is actually a very quiet, winding country road. The countryside is very pleasant, with lots of farms and old houses.
We found our 2nd covered bridge today and I have a photo of Laura and Leddy riding th
rough it.
We stayed at a B&B - La Magie D'Une Nuit in St. Barthelemy, hosted by Danielle. We had a wonderful stay. They let us use the kitchen & BBQ to cook our own dinner - chicken, sausages, garlic bread and Greek Salad (with NO lettuce!). The breakfast Danielle made was even better. A really nice place to stay and we'll give you the address if you want to stay.

The road rash sounds nasty! I'm assuming someone took photos. Glad you aren't too badly hurt. I don't think Laura would want to tow you the rest of the way to Newfoundland...
I rode up to Courtenay for the long weekend. It rained for the first hour of the ride. Actually, I cheated a bit... Keith gave me a ride to Qualicum Beach. That saved me having to ride for 2 more hours in the rain. Dan's riding up today, so I'm off to meet him part way.
Happy riding!
